It’s Flippin’ Friday! #13

It’s another great Flippin’ Friday!

And wow! What fun things to read last week!  We heard some great flips with My Little Pony, Little Tikes Dollhouse, Altoids, New Keen shoes,  Dansko shoes, Mephisto sandals, vintage Golden Hands craft magazines, a cashmere sweater, and a Shenango China Restaurant plate ( from White Crown Hamburger).  GREAT STORIES AGAIN!!

We would love to hear your flippin’ stories…especially as we go through these winter months chomping at the bit to get back out there and find things! Just add your story in the comment section below!

And I apologize for my lack of posts this week….KUH-RAZY week! It should be easing up here shortly and I will again have those thrifting tidbits coming at you!

Hope you are enjoying the holidays! 🙂

You did a great job providing us with blog posts this week even though it was crazy for you!

I had a few good book flips this week. A few weekends ago I was at the best book estate sale ev-ah. It was sunday and the 3rd day and there was still walls, boxes, and tables of books. And they were marked way down. I was loving it. I got a huge variety of books, one from 1884! Cookbooks, children’s books, textbooks, it was great. I spent $25 on 20 books and then the fun, came home to research.

I’ve only sold one of them, and it was the one only 5 years old, lol. I was the America Test Kitchen Family’s Cookbook, you know, from that great cooking show on PBS. I love that show and the cookbook was great, but it was big and taking up room so I wanted it out. I checked the completeds, took several good pics, listed as much details as I could from the title and cover page, and started it at $15. It was in really good condition, and they are $35 new.

Well, it soon got a bid and started going up even more above the other ones listed. I had no idea why. Then I started researching some more and found out that mine was first edition and ring bound and the new ones are only spiral bound so you can’t remove the recipes like with mine. Wow, cool. Glad I listed it as an auction and not fixed price. It ended at $34.49. Paid for and shipped out. I’ll take it! That more than paid for that estate sale and now I have 19 other books from it left to list.

The other cool book flip I had this week was a book called Give Your Child a Supior Mind from the 60s about teaching your pre-schooler that I bought for $1 from Salvation Army and sold for $20.

    Yea books!

I love Flippin’ Friday! It is very motivating to hear other’s tales of buying and selling. Thanks Jessica for sharing your book sales. I have just recently started selling on EBay. My “best” sale so far has been a Starbucks mug someone gave to me because they didn’t want it anymore. I didn’t really need another mug so did a little research and saw that some of the Starbucks mugs sell quite well. This mug was in the Barista series, from the mid-90’s, and had Italy in raised letters on it. It sold for 24.95 – not bad for a free mug. I love this blog! Thanks so much for sharing your experience and knowledge with us. Shirley

Sorry I’m a little late to the party! Busy season, isn’t it?
This week I found a set of 12 Japanese anime books in great condition for 50 cents each book. Sold them in a lot yesterday for $33. Not bad.
I also bought a box of Fisher Price Imaginext castle and pirate sets for $20 at a yard sale a couple of weeks ago. My husband and son and I had a great evening putting them together and sorting all the pieces. Sold in two lots for a total of $143! WHoo Hoo!

Did this flip several weeks ago. I was visiting my 21 year old daughter and we always have to go junking when we get together. She says I have ruined her – she can’t shop retail stores like the rest of her friends do. She’s been junking with me since she was 2. Went to a Goodwill and they had a vintage Tammy Ideal doll clothes still in the package. Paid 99 cents for them. Sold them for $52.00. Love going to different towns to junk. We had a blast. That flip paid for my weekend there.

I stumbled upon your blog a couple weeks ago and have really enjoyed reading all the Flippin Friday comments! Wow, folks have had some great sales and I’ve learned a thing or two. Earlier this year I bought a plush stuffed penguin at a garage sale for $2. Did my research and found out he was a Debbie Mumm Plush 18″ Penguin Mummford, made popular by Joey from The Friends TV show. I listed him on eBay for $49.95 and he sold within 2 weeks. I’ve also sold a couple of the Starbucks city mugs; and have posts on my blog about other great flips. Thanks for hosting Flippin Fridays!
