It’s Flippin’ Friday! #23

Hip! Hip! Hooray!!!!! It’s Flippin’ Friday!

Again…thank you all for contributing your stories.  I know its opened a whole new way of looking at thrift stores and garage sales for a lot of us!

Last week we had stories of a Discovery Toy game, the children’s book “Gunniwolf”,  plush toys, a Far Side mug, the romance novel “The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie”, Chi Hair Straighteners, and more of those great Starbucks mugs!  Yay!!!! Love ’em!

Got a flip story? Just add it to the comment section  below! Big or small…we love them all!

Happy hunting and have a GRRRRRRREAT weekend!

I got one!! I got a bakelite figural pin at a store I used to work for, I bought it for $15.00 and sold that bad boy for $635.00. You can see a picture of him in the last post I did like a month ago. 🙂

My flip happened this week. I went thrifting on the Prez day sales on Monday. Couldn’t believe it at the first store when I found a pair of LIKE NEW (i think they were new) burgundy Dansko professional clogs. 40% off. So only $5 or so. I sold them by Wednesday for $69.99.

It’s definitely a shoe brand I always look for.

Wow, Kari, thanks for the great blog post on baelite! I’ve heard of it, but never knew anything about it. More great stuff to look for.

Ooops, sorry, that was meant to be a reply to Kari’s comment. Ok, so I’ll add mine here today. It was a slow week, so I’ll add one from a few weeks ago.

At an estate sale awhile back I found some great crafting stuff. Uncut patterns and nice books. One was called Pattern Drafting and Grading by M. Rohr about garment design. It was really pretty, from 1965, and no longer in print. I bought a bunch of stuff priced together, but it was probably a few dollars at most. All the ones I could find on-line at various places were priced high, over $90. I listed it a few weeks for $50 and some watchers but no takers. 🙁 So I listed again for $35 with free shipping and it got a few bids and sold for $37. Still a nice profit for me.

  4. I had a nice flip this past week. My local SA has “rag days” on Mondays and all short sleeve blouses & shirts were $2.00. I bought a brand new Tommy Bahama hawaiian shirt with its original tags, and it just sold for $45.00. I also bought a Tommy Bahama pre-owned silk dress for $2 — it sold for over $20. So be sure to add Tommy Bahama to your BOLO list!
