Vintage Pull Down Maps…Anyone?…Anyone?

Last year, I wrote a post about this vintage pull down Florida map I found…and then put in my “Vintage Florida” bedroom.

I still have it in there (love it!) and now my son loves looking at it too.

These maps have always had a following for decorators, but it appears they are getting more popular.  Vintage school maps are fetching from $30.00-$400.00 on Ebay right now. The maps that are selling are from all areas and different illustrators. The vintage colors and perhaps the sentimentality of an area may help play a part in their desirability.

Look for them in thrift stores, Craiglist, and GovDeals.com (school districts sell a lot of surplus on this site).

Happy hunting!

I love the idea of these maps! Maybe I’ll have to get one for myself.

  3. I have a friend that purchased the contents of a storage shed from a neighbor that was moving and didn’t want to clean it out. Her husband wanted the riding lawnmower and they figured everything else was gravy. Along with the normal yard tools was a stash of 6 vintage school maps. She sold them one at the time and got from $50 to $150 for them. Paid for the storage shed more than twice. Good job for her!!!
