Ugly Christmas Sweaters 101

Thrift stores are indeed putting out their holiday items.

If you plan to get in on the “Ugly Christmas Sweater” trend…now’s the time to nab them up!

If you aren’t familiar with this trend, basically there are groups of people who get together during the holidays for “Ugly Christmas Sweater Parties”. It is pretty funny to see people show up in these things….each trying to vye for the title of “Ugliest Sweater”.

If you are thinking about doing this, here are a few things that will help your sales.

1) Try and pick up large and x-large sizes. Men go to these parties and have a difficult time trying to find ones that fit.

2) Really go for over-embellished sweaters.  More is better. More holly, more snowflakes….more everything. If you have a sweater that you can’t tell what the base color is because there are so many pictures all over it….you’ve got a winner.

3) Make sure you put Tacky or Ugly in your listing title. People search with those terms.

4) Most sweaters go between $15.00-$50.00 depending on size and ugliness. So keep that in mind when you are buying your items….that you can only sell once a year.

These parties seem to get more popular each year….so the demand is still there!

And you’ll be amazed at what you can find out there!

First found out about this earlier this year, and have been buying them all year. Not just christmas sweaters but any ugly sweater I find, although beauty IS in the eye of the beholder. I pick them up for about $1 to $2. I recently started listing them, and sold one for $35 and another for $30! I thought they were ugly but the buyers were thrilled with their sweaters.
